Maestro
Furumoto
Maestro
Kimo Furumoto has recently joined the faculty of California State
University - Fullerton. Prior to joining the faculty at the Fullerton
campus, Furumoto served as Orchestra Director and Music Director
for the Opera Theatre at the Ohio University School of Music.
He has served
as the Assistant Conductor of the Lyric Mountain Festival for the
Performing Arts and as Assistant Conductor of the Lexington Philharmonic.
His guest conductor appearances include the Chapman Symphony Orchestra,
the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra and the
Kurpfalzisches Kammerorchester of Mannheim, Germany.
Maestro Furumoto
has also served as Music Director of the Concert Orchestra at the
University of Cincinnati, College- Conservatory of Music. During
his tenure, he conducted a concert at the critically acclaimed Mass-in-Concert
series held at New York's Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts
in conjunction with the Mozart Bicentennial. After completing a
one-year intern position as Conducting Assistant with the Cincinnati
Symphony Orchestra in 1988, he was invited to return as guest assistant
conductor.
In addition,
he has served as Associate Conductor of the Cincinnati Symphony
Youth Orchestra and Assistant Conductor of the Cincinnati Chamber
Orchestra with Boston Pops conductor, Keith Lockhart. Kimo Furumoto
holds conducting degrees from Chapman University and the University
of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music. He has studied under
Leonard Bernstein, Robert Shaw, Gerhard Samuel and John Koshak.
